Who am I? and Why am I here? These are two questions which have puzzled philosophers throughout the ages. Growing up in a fallen world has resulted in learning many unhealthy messages that have been assimilated into our core beliefs. Many of those core beliefs have produced one of
the most powerful and at the same time, the most private of all our emotions - shame. It is one of
the strongest areas of Enemy deception, one that even tends to pervade our daily experience as Christians.
In this seminar,
Peter Kuiper will explore the role of sin and shame, others' expectations, the "false self," the performance treadmill, and other dynamics at work in identify formation. Most Christians, if they are honest, will admit they still don't like who they are even after salvation. As Gregory Boyd would say, "what they know to be true biblically, they haven't experienced as real." The primary goal of this seminar is for participants to leave with a new sense of freedom in Christ and a genuine sense of excitement about who He really created them to be.
