What is "brief intensive" counseling?
Clients of CrossRoads Counseling meet on a daily basis with their CRC Therapist, working on issues in a concentrated, goal-directed manner that produces a deep "heart shift." The counseling takes place over a 10-day period: Monday through Friday for two consecutive weeks. The process of healing is accelerated as the individual or couple accesses the root causes of their problems, along with a distinctively Christian perspective that provides new direction and growth. Often the effect is so profound that clients remark that the experience at CRC is equivalent to as much as a year's worth of traditional counseling.

What are the credentials of the therapists?
All CRC therapists are licensed by the State of Colorado. Each therapist has at least a master's degree and has many years of experience working with individuals, couples, and families in a variety of mental health settings. See Our Staff for more information on specific therapists.

Where is CrossRoads Counseling located?
CrossRoads Counseling is located in Buena Vista, Colorado. Buena Vista is a scenic 2½ drive southwest of Denver or a 2 hour drive west of Colorado Springs. The small community atmosphere allows CRC to offer therapy that is confidential, relaxed, and non-intimidating. Normally all clinical work is conducted at the CRC counseling offices in Buena Vista. However, for those who wish to host an offsite intensive retreat, arrangements can be made for CRC therapists to travel to other locations. A minimum of four couples is required for offsite retreats.

How much does brief intensive counseling cost?
CRC is committed to providing the best Christian counseling at an affordable costs. Many major insurance carriers cover at least a portion of counseling. The rate for couples attending 10 days of brief intensive counseling is $3,500, which includes 30 hours of direct therapy, 10 hours of group teaching, and a standard psychological test for assessment purposes. The rate for individuals is $2,325, which includes 20 hours of therapy, 10 hours of group teaching, and a psychological assessment test. Clents desiring additional hours of therapy or less than a 10 day session can arrange this with their CRC counselor as necessary. A $300 non-refundable deposit is required in advance to reserve your time at CRC.

What type of lodging is available in Buena Vista?
CRC has made arrangements with several lodging facilities in the Buena Vista area to offer clients discounted rates for their stay. See Lodging or call CRC to ask about the various options available.

What if I am already seeing a counselor in my area?
With signed consents, the CRC therapists welcome input from your counselor and would normally expect to make a referral back to that counselor for follow-up treatment upon your return home.

Why are the group teaching sessions important?
One of the common problems our clients express is the "18 inch struggle" of head to heart. Many clients comment on how much the teaching time helps to clarify and reinforce what they are working on in individual or couple therapy. The safe environment of a small group or class aids the process of healing relationally, emotionally and spiritually. Clients often remark that familiar biblical truths have taken on a whole new freshness, power, and experiential reality as the Holy Spirit reveals practical applications.

Is CRC connected with a particular church or denomination?
CRC is cross-denominational. Clients come to CRC from a wide variety of religious backgrounds. Doctrinal distinctives that divide Christians are not addressed and controversial issues are referred back to the client's pastor or other church leader, since these issues are rarely the reasons the client has come for counseling. Please refer to our Statement of Faith if you desire further clarification.

How do I register for counseling sessions?
The first step is to call or email letting us know that you are interested. You may also request information on our contact page. The second step is your free pre-assessment phone interview with a CRC therapist. This interview gives you and us the opportunity to evaluate whether CRC is the right option for your counseling needs. After you have decided to attend, the office staff will help finalize your registration. A $300 non-refundable deposit is required to reserve your time at CRC.
